English at Sixth Form is a hugely popular choice.  The department teaches the new OCR specifications for AS and A2 level. There are four experienced A Level teachers at present.  The students enjoy the subject and always gain excellent results.

AS students will study three modules:
A Shakespeare play
Poetry and Prose – two texts
A text chosen by the college which will be the subject of 1500-2000-word piece of coursework which will include close textual analysis.

A2 students undertake the study of a further three modules:
Pre-1914 Poetry and Drama – two texts.
A post-1914 text chosen by the college which will be the subject of a 3000-word piece of analytical coursework.
A themed final module – called the Synoptic Paper – which will assess the skills gained during the two-year course.
